"My insurance agent said there are laws against
companies bundling policies like that.." |

The insurance industry is one of the most heavily regulated categories
of business in the United States. State and local governments can
impose all sorts of rules on companies wishing to sell policies there.
You may find insurers in your area are prohibited from offering you more
than one type of policy. They may reason it protects you from being
prodded into buying insurance you don't want or need. In this case,
however, it means you are being kept from protecting yourself. |
Assuming you don't want to move to another locale, you might want to
contact your government representative and tell him your problem.
You might even receive assistance from your insurer; the company would
probably be interested in being able to sell more kinds of policies. |
